A-Z of Secret Edinburgh: Inverleith Park

A walk through Inverleith Park

Forget the hustle and bustle of Princes Street Gardens or even the Meadows – Inverleith Park, just to the north of the city centre and across from the Botanic Gardens, is undoubtedly the people’s park.

With romantic avenues of trees (check out the cherry and apple blossom in spring) and a gorgeous pond that freezes over in winter, Inverleith Park truly is a magical spot.

Incredible views right over the city centre

I’ll let you into another secret – with incredible views right over the city centre, it’s the place locals bring their friends and picnics to watch the End of Festival and Hogmanay firework displays as they light up the sky above Edinburgh Castle. No crowds, no tickets – no contest!

And if that doesn’t have you convinced, the park also has its very own petanque club every Tuesday and Thursday evening from April through to October. Now that’s got to boule you over…

Inverleith Park, Arboretum Road, EH3 5NZ.
