THE ISLE OF BARRA
Organised by: Brightwater Holidays ABTOT 5001 ATOL4498 Barra hol.jpg
Dates: Departures between now and October 2010
Description: 3 nights from £395

For a small island, Barra packs a lot in! With fine beaches, a romantic castle and an awesome view round every corner, this tour is definitely one for the island-bagger. Barra is the most southerly of the Outer Hebrides and has long been famed for its beauty. As we sail into Castlebay we pass the sentinel-like Kisimul Castle, the 12th-century stronghold of the Clan MacNeil, which provides a stirring and romantic welcome to the island.
We will be based at the Isle of Barra Hotel, overlooking a fine, sandy beach. The hotel is noted for its excellent cuisine, specialising in local seafood. We will explore the hills and bays of the island, including the famous Cockleshell Beach which serves as the island’s airstrip; the neighbouring island of Vatersay with its brilliant white sandy beaches and we will also take the opportunity to cross by ferry to Eriskay and then by causeway to South Uist.

Departure points: Dundee, Perth, Kinross, Aberdeen, Montrose, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dunfermline, Arbroath.
This holiday is also available by air, price from £495, from regional airports. Please request separate brochure.
