| Winds of Freedom - Tarneybackle |

|
| Winds of Freedom is the latest album to blow in from Blackford-based Tarneybackle, otherwise John Davidson, Lorna Davidson and Sandy Marshall. Their forte is folk in traditional vein, with strong vocal harmonies and well-executed strings, backed up by flute and percussion.
This collection starts with Lorraine Jordan's title track, recalling the Highland Clearances, and moves on through Burns, Violet Jacob and Robert Tannahill, then closer to modernity with Hugh Roberton and Hamish Henderson, plus Sandy's own celebration of the Crieff drovers' trysts.
An enjoyable tour through several centuries of Scottish song, with a couple of bows to Scots blood across the Atlantic forbye. |
