| Songs Around Scotland - Alastair McDonald |

|
| Alastair McDonald's Songs Around Scotland is a celebration of our nation in song, with a narration by Findlay Cameron. Scenes evoked range from Dark Lochnagar to Duke Street Jail, from Gretna Village Green to Loch Ness; and events these places witnessed range from Border battles to unexplained fauna (Loch Ness), political disasters (Culloden), sudden death (Glen Coe), folk heroes (Rob Roy MacGregor) and Holy Iona.
An interesting collection from Alastair, with his usual flashes of humour among the history and reverence - check out the Glasgow tracks and the saga of the Lugton Dug, a worthy adversary for Sam The Skull, as he says himself! These 16 tracks will take a trick with visitor and native alike, and probably were intended partly for the tourist market. If that is so, then we have here a worthy addition to every woollen mill's audio leisure section, and to those of many more places besides. |
