| Lochbroom - Alasdair Gillies |
| Lochbroom features Alasdair Gillies, but for Gaelic song fans this is not "the singing dentist" of the same name - this is Alasdair Gillies, now American resident, last Pipe Major of The Queen's Own Highlanders, son of the late and much-admired P/M Norman Gillies, and a sensation in the piping world, equally able to triumph on the boards with piobaireachd, charm a ceilidh audience with ceòl beg, and altogether inspire beginners and lesser lights with a standard to strive after.
The entire repertoire of piping is here, from the classic "The Earl of Seaforth's Salute", to 3/4s like the "Heroes of St Valery" and jigs like "Mrs MacPherson of Inveran". A feast for piping fans. |
