| Flower And Iron is the latest album from Malinky and their fourth from Greentrax, and once again showcases their undoubted command of vocal and instrumental arts, regardless of any changes in the line-up. The current team comprises Fiona Hunter on vocals and cello, Steve Byrne (vocals, bouzouki, cittern and guitar); Mark Dunlop (vocals, whistles and bodhran); Mike Vass (fiddle); and Dave Wood (guitar and bouzouki). A glance at the list suggests that the vocal team has been strengthened, and such is the case, as will be evident to the listener.
Tracks range from a salute to the Drunken Duck (a pub in Ambleside) to tragedy, love, and musings on the futility of war. Once again Malinky score a bull's-eye in musicality. |
