The Greentrax Years - McCalmans
The Greentrax Years does exactly what it says on the tin; in fact, it offers no fewer than 46 tracks on two discs, spanning a downright scary 45 years in the business, which tragically for many will come to an end at the close of the 2010 touring season. Over four and a half decades, the line-up has changed only twice: Hamish Bayne left Ian McCalman and Derek Moffat in 1982, to be replaced by Nick Keir. Derek Moffat’s tragic death in 2001 brought in Stephen Quigg, who was no stranger, having accompanied The Macs on their Highland tours for some time. Fans will find all the fave songs on this bumper album: a veritable cornucopia from classics like “Tullochgorm”, “Yellow On The Broom”, and “Twa Recruitin’ Sergeants”, to the Macs' often topical hilarity like “Let’s Recycle” and “Leave Us Our Glens”. Dare one say they are a National Treasure?
