Now in its second year, Edinburgh Fashion Week has been declared a huge success by Event Organisers Essential Edinburgh, with packed cutting-edge fashion shows and The Mound once again transformed into a buzzing style hub.

Over 11,500 fashion fans attended the launch weekend of Edinburgh Fashion Week on March 5/6, an impressive 15% increase from last year. Created to celebrate Edinburgh’s varied and unique shopping culture, the weekend showcased exciting collaborations with over 25 of the city’s top fashion retailers and stylish boutiques, including favourites John Lewis, Debenhams, LK Bennett, Jigsaw, Oliver Bonas, GAP and River Island.

A spectacular charity fashion show

Striking catwalk shows, stylish pop-ups and exciting blogger collaborations created a stir amongst Scotland’s style set. One of the weekend’s highlights was a spectacular charity fashion show hosted in partnership with breast cancer charity Walk the Walk, organisers of The MoonWalk Scotland.

During the fashion show, an array of Scottish designers and celebrities, including The Bay City Rollers, Lorraine Kelly and Judy Murray, designed and signed a collection of unique bras which were showcased and auctioned live at the event, raising over £1,400 for the charity through both donations and the auction itself.

Emerging Scottish talent

In addition to its popular retailer collectives, two kids fashion shows made their debut on the Edinburgh Fashion Week catwalk this year, featuring the latest looks and tips for young fashionistas.

There was also a ‘Let’s Talk Fashion’ panel discussion, which brought together some of Scotland’s top fashion figures to share their industry insight and raise funds for emerging Scottish talent on behalf of the Scottish Fashion Creative Network.

Other highlights included a series of unmissable styling sessions hosted by Edinburgh’s much-loved personal shopper and stylist Satisfashion, whilst an Edinburgh College of Art Postgraduate Show, featuring a raft of emerging designers, closed the weekend in style.

Following the launch, thousands of shoppers took advantage of exclusive week-long retailer promotions that ran across the city, while a charity fashion show on March 11/12 brought the week to a sensational finale.
