All The Fun Of The Scottish Game Fair!

Relaxing in the sun at the GWCT Scottish Game Fair 2015

The GWCT Scottish Game Fair 2015 – the annual celebration of rural Scotland – takes place on July 3, 4 and 5 at Scone Palace, Perthshire.

The Scottish Game Fair programme is packed full of main ring events, competitions and ‘have a go’ activities such as gnat shooting, clays and fishing.

Over the weekend, The Savage Skills mountain bike stunt team will be showcasing their skills alongside horn blowing French huntsmen, while falcons, gun dogs, ducks, terriers, hill ponies, pipe bands and hunting hounds will be making a welcome return.

Visitors to the Game Fair can also enjoy vintage vehicles, clay shooting, the 4×4 agility course, fishing tuition and competitions, scurry and gun dog tests, achildren’s activity area and more.

A true taste of Scotland

For foodies, the Food Hall makes the most of 2015 Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink with over 50 producers providing a true taste of Scotland, including tablet, smoked salmon, lobsters, game produce, oils and dressings.

Christopher Trotter will be Fair’s ‘foodie in residence’, preparing dishes using the tempting goodies on sale in the Food Hall and working with other invited guest chefs including Three Sisters Bake and Tom Lewis, as well as hosting baking and whisky / food pairing demonstrations.

In addition to the Food Hall, the Fair hosts a superb range of craft makers in the huge craft marquee, where dozens of talented designers and makers come together to showcase and sell their work. There’s also a huge array of traders exhibiting at the Fair, providing a range of services and products relating to the outdoors and countryside, as well as clothing, art and furniture.

Free have-a-go fishing sessions

The Fair is also hosting Get Hooked on Fishing (GHoF) this year – an angling charity which helps provide positive opportunities for young people, their families and communities. GHoF will be providing free have-a-go sessions for beginners, top tips sessions for more experienced rods and fishing fun fair games for all to enjoy.
