Roald Dahl Favourite Is Brought To Life at Glamis

Danny The Champion of the World - at Glamis Castle this summer

One hundred years after the birth of Roald Dahl, PDF Productions and Illyria are delighted to announce a summer 2016 date for Danny The Champion Of The World with a Picnic Play at Glamis Castle.

This Roald Dahl kids’ classic will take to the stage in the grounds Glamis Castle in the beautiful county of Angus on Thursday, July 14, when the audience can bring along a picnic and enjoy a fun, relaxing evening in one of the most magnificent settings in Scotland.

‘Everyone’s favourite tale from the master storyteller’

“This year Illyria is celebrating the Dahl centenary and Illyria’s own 25th anniversary with everyone’s favourite tale from the master storyteller,” said Oliver Gray, Artistic Director, Illyria, a theatre company which performs open-air theatre in some of the most prestigious and stunning locations throughout the UK and beyond.

“Roald Dahl’s genius lay in telling stories that appeal to adults and children alike and Danny The Champion Of The World is no exception. The show has vintage cars, LOTS of pheasants, an evil villain and a young hero who saves the day. And Glamis Castle is the perfect outdoor backdrop for this summer treat.”

Danny The Champion of the World is a funny, heartwarming tale about a young boy (Danny) as he attempts to rescue his dad, the local pheasant poacher – and becomes the mastermind of an incredibly exciting plot against the evil local landowner.
