Microadventures

The Moray Walking Festival kicked off on Thursday, June 18 with a packed programme for every ability. The highlight, however, looks to be the talk from National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Alastair Humphreys on the evening of Saturday, June 20, which encourages everyone to get outside for a Microadventure!

It’s the Royal Highland Show June 18 – 21, with over 150 Scottish food and drink exhibitors and ovr 5,000 animals taking to the showground! The Scots Magazine have a stall there, too, so do pop in and see us, we have a tent at stall 503, 4th Avenue.

 

Dads are Heroes Too

This Father’s Day (June 21!) the folks at the National Wallace Monument are hosting a day of family fun with re-enactments and interactive quests. As a memento, children can get a photo with their dad next to William Wallace himself. Discount entry prices for dads, too!

 

A Festival of Cake!

A free cake fest is coming to Edinburgh on June 21! Held at the Royal Botanic Gardens the many cake-themed activities throughout the afternoon include the building of a city map of Edinburgh made out of cake! This has to be seen to be believed…

 

Northern Lights Games

It’s Aberdeen’s turn on the Highland Games circuit and on Sunday, June 21 there will be competitions galore, plus food, gifts, arts and crafts and clothing stalls in Hazelhead Park. Do check out the chainsaw woodcarver if you stop by.

 

MacAulay Does Magfest

On Saturday, June 20, Fred MacAulay takes over Orkney’s annual St Magnus International Festival for Magfest. Expect a night of wry and satirical stand-up comedy, with more than a few laughs at the Fusion Nightclub in Kirkwall.

 

Youth Jazz

The Glasgow Jazz Festival opens with a bang on Thursday, June 24, with the Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year Final, where five top young jazz musicians in the country battle it out for this prestigious award. Tickets only £8. 

 

Film Fest!

The world-reknown Edinburgh International Film Festival has begun! From now until June 28, the lively programme of local and international films will be rolling, so get the popcorn out ad check out our pick: The McLaren Awards on Thursday, June 24.

 

Still Going Strong

The Three Degrees are well remembered for their huge international hit “When Will I See You Again” from 1974 – and they’re still at it! The trio, featuring two of the original members, are touring the UK, stopping at Dundee’s Gardyne Theatre on Saturday, June 20.

 

Songs of Scotland

The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra take to Eden Court in Inverness on Sunday, June 21, with their current tour featuring special guest, Eddi Reader. Alba: Songs of Scotland promises a blend of traditional and contemporary Scottish music exceptionally played.
