A-Z of Secret Glasgow: Queen’s Cross

Queen's Cross church

Just 10 minutes from the city centre, this little-known gem is the only church building in the world designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and is a must-see for his fans.

Now owned and lovingly cared for by the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society, this Gothic-style pile is much in demand as a wedding and concert venue.

Designed in 1896 it’s the the simplicity of the design that make it stand out from the ecclesiastical crowd.

The inside of the church has a lot of the great man’s detailing and, unlike some other preserved Mackintosh buildings, visitors are free to take photographs – so remember your camera. The gift shop stocks an extensive range of Mackintosh books and gifts.

Any profits go to support the work of the Society and the upkeep of The Mackintosh Church.
