Nick Drainey

Tramping my way around the hills, glens and coastline of Scotland, I have developed a love for the rich diversity of the country’s landscape.

Taking the plunge to write about the outdoors, I left behind a desk job in newspapers five years ago to spend more time doing what I love and have never looked back.

As well as the actual walks, I like to bring a flavour of what rural Scotland is all about – everything from country pursuits, local businesses or a particular natural phenomenon. Whether it be a short stroll with the family or a full day’s hike up rugged mountains, there is always something to enjoy. I’m often asked what my favourite walk is and the honest answer is often “the one that I just did”.

I hope readers take inspiration to go out and explore the countryside for themselves all year round.
