Urquhart Castle

Without question one of the most haunting ruins in the land, Urquhart enjoys pride of place on the western banks of Loch Ness.

In centuries past it had to endure a Jacobite tussle or two  – as well as being unceremoniously blown up by its keepers to prevent further Jacobite use.

Now it just puts up with monster hunters and selfie sticks!

The attached visitor centre is great for further tale telling in Urquhart’s past and the ruins make for one of the best vantage points over our most famous Loch.
