Foodie Heaven at Edinburgh Food Festival 2016

A few delicious morsels by Section 33

After its successful launch last year, Edinburgh Food Festival is back to tease and tantalise our tastebuds!

Located in Edinburgh’s George Square Gardens, from July 27 – 31, Edinburgh Food Festival will offer revellers a wide variety of Scotland’s finest produce, with food producers from around the country providing delicious tastes and flavours.

“We’re always looking for new things to bring to Edinburgh,” said Sharon Burgess of Assembly Festivals, which runs Edinburgh Food Festival. “Last year’s response was fantastic and this year we’ve got an energetic line-up of dance, entertainment, demonstrations and samplings.”

Headline shows will take place over five days of the festival

With the iconic Spiegeltent as its centrepiece, a variety of headline shows will take place over the five days of the festival, including the Speakeasy Spiegeltent Swing Dance. This evening of 1920s’ music, costume and dance takes place on the Friday evening and there will be lots of opportunities to learn to ‘trip the light fantastic’.

Carrying the 1920s’ vibe over to the Saturday afternoon, The Ragroof Players will host a tea dance for the bold, the curious and the all-round Gatsby enthusiasts.

For younger revellers, Gorgie Farm is hosting a ‘From Food to Fork’ event, while other food and drink talks will keep guests entertained throughout the festival. In addition, Section33, Glasgow’s experiential fine-dining pop-up restaurant, will deliver a five course dinner on the Saturday evening, with bold Scottish flavours, local produce and creative culinary tweaks.

Tom and Guy will search for Ed Food Fest Top Cook 2016

The highly anticipated festival finale – Ready Steady Chef – spans the whole of Sunday, July 31, when award-winning chef Tom Lewis and Guy Grieve, diver and owner of The Ethical Shellfish Company, will search for Ed Food Fest Top Cook 2016.

Four lucky couples will be chosen to source their ingredients from the festival gardens before cooking up a dish of their choice, mentored by the endearingly rebellious Tom and Guy. Two heats will take place in the afternoon followed by the grand finale in the evening.
