Check Out The Line-up At Peebles Outdoor Film Festival

The Peebles Outdoor Film Festival is back with an amazing new set of films and fantastic special guests

Mountain bike legend Hans Rey, outdoor swimmer and TV star Calum Maclean, plus adventurer and Paddle Against Plastic founder Cal Major are among the headline names coming to the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles over the weekend of 25-27 January for the 2019 Peebles Outdoor Film Festival.

In its fifth year, the festival offers a celebration of outdoor and mountain culture in all its forms, from inspiring speakers and award-winning adventure films to outdoor sessions led by local activity providers.

This year features a programme of more than 30 short films as well as the Scottish Festival Premieres of two feature films. Watch the trailer below to whet your appetite on what will be on offer.

The first of this year’s premiers is Time Trial. It’s an immersive ride through cyclist David Millar’s last season in the saddle. Watch the trailer here.

The second is Free Solo. It’s an unflinching portrait of climber Alex Honnold as he prepares to climb Yosemite’s El Capitan without a rope. You can also watch this trailer below.

The festival also promises special appearances from a number of outdoor adventurers. Mountain Bike Hall of Famer Hans ‘No Way’ Rey will take audiences on a journey through an incredible career.

Audiences will also be treated to an evening with Calum Maclean, star of the BBC’s The Social and BBC Alba. Calum is a filmmaker and outdoor swimmer whose love of exploring Scotland’s lochs and rivers sees scant regard for comfort.

Cal Major, a remarkable young woman whose passion for preserving and protecting our coastline is also part of the festival. She uses epic stand-up paddleboard adventures to highlight the issue of plastic pollution and promote positive change.

The 2019 Peebles Outdoor Film Festival runs from 25-27 January, and is kindly sponsored by the John Muir Trust, Tontine Hotel, Go Ape, Peebles Hydro/The Park and Adrenalin Uplift, with additional support from Out & About, Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa, No 1 Peebles Road, Pocket Mountains, Glede Knowe Guest House, FINDRA, Ridelines and Cleikum Mill Lodge.
