- Aberdeen FC are the only Scottish team to have won two European trophies. In 1983 the Pittodrie club won both the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the European Super Cup.
- Cult horror movie, The Hills Have Eyes was inspired by the legend of Scottish cannibal, Sawney Bean. Director Wes Craven read the story of the 16th-century cave-dwelling cannibal and used it for his script.
