A Poignant Premiere

The 306: Dawn is a new piece of musical theatre by Oliver Emanuel set around the Battle of the Somme. It premieres in the unusual, but poignant location of Dalcrue Farm, Perthshire, with preview night on May 24. Tickets here.

Seasonal Feasts

A feast of local food and drink is to take place at Balgove Larder near St Andrews on Wednesday, May 25. Expect a stand-out menu and talks and demonstrations from the Master Butcher at Balgove Larder and Fife Food Ambassador, Christopher Trotter.

Design for the Stage

On Saturday, May 21, at the Dundee Rep Scottish multi-award winning set, costume and video designers Bunny Christie and Finn Ross talk about their stellar design careers. This fascinating evening is free, but book your space early!

Music & Malt

Feis Ile, the Islay Festival of Music and Malt is a match made in heaven, and this year it runs from Friday, May 20 until May 28. All the distilleries are having open days, and there are ceilidhs, flings and concerts all around the island.

Wild About Lochaber

Celebrate the Outdoor Capital of the UK at the Wild Lochaber Festival. From May 21 – 29 there are some amazing guided walks, wildlife cruises- and much more than we have room for here. Have a look!

World Whisky Day

Saturday, May 21, is also officially World Whisky Day, and celebrations kicks off on Friday morning with Glengoyne distillery. Click here to see the various celebratory events you can join, or simply have a dram yourself!

DIY Experts

The Scottish Home & Renovating Show is at the SECC on Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22, with over 140 exhibitors presenting everything from architectural design, furnishing, and lighting to insulation and loft conversions.

Puckoon

Big Telly’s adaptation of Spike Milligan’s madcap genius has returned to the stag for a tour of the UK and Ireland and they’ll be in the Dundee Rep on Wednesday, May 25, and Thursday, 27.

Big Nature Fest

On Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22, Levenhall Links in Musselburgh plays host Scotland’s Big Nature Festival. Expect talks, workshops and fun activities for all the family – from the serious birder to the inquisitive toddler.

Scottish Boat Race

Head down to the Glasgow Riverside Museum on Saturday, May 21, for live music, beer garden and more as you cheer on the teams from Glasgow and Edinburgh universities in the second oldest boat race in the world.
