Taste The Wild!


Get ready for a new food and foraging festival!

 

Taste The Wild is all set to showcase the very best food and drink found along Scotland’s iconic ‘Road to the Isles’.

Taking place in Mallaig on Saturday, September 10th, the event will be open from 11 am until the wee hours with food demonstrations, samples, a 4-course “Scram & Dram Ceilidh” dinner.

 

Not Just Great Scenery!

 

“This will be a great day out and a real community event, ” said Sarah Winnington-Ingram, Chair of the Road to the Isles Marketing Group, “but the underlying message is that we have great cuisine in this area and superb local produce.

“It is well-known for its spectacular scenery but we want to make sure people know about the food!”

Visitors to Taste The Wild can learn about the West Highland’s fine food and drink through talks and masterclasses throughout the day.

In the Big Fish Debate Shirley Spear will chair a one-hour panel discussion on the issues facing the fishing industry, and Highland Larder Masterclass will show visitors how to work with locally-sourced venison, langoustines, mushrooms and scallops.

Gourmet stallholders and local producers such as Great Glen Charcuterie and Glenfinnan Brewery will also be lined up during at Taste The Wild to offer festival-goers samples.

Scran & Dram 4-course dinner will be provided by award-winning chefs from Arisaig HotelThe Steam Inn, Glenfinnan House Hotel and the West Highland Hotel.
